Claude Fog

/klôd fôg/ n. the gray, groggy, cloudy period after a long session with a model.

“It’s the fog that gives it its magnificent breadth” (Claude Monet in reference to London)

I’ve been in and around internet technologies since 1995. I’m not a coder. I’m just a curious person who is relentless about details and how technologies work and what they mean for all of us. I’m a serial entrepreneur, a recovering corporate strategy guy, and an investor. I started in online advertising then internet appliances then big media then broadband/cable infrastructure then energy infrastructure and measurement and then digital identity.

I’ve been using the recent frontier models in a serious manner only since 2025. After some long sessions with Claude Code, I was searching for a term to describe my state of mind - Claude Fog is it. After-the-fact, I learned that Claude Monet had a fascination with fog - above is one of his 40 oil paintings capturing London fog. News to me. I started this “old fashioned” blog because I needed a way to clear my mind after those Claude sessions, I wanted some record of the experience, and I like pull (visit this website) better than push.
